O-1A: Extraordinary Ability in the Sciences, Education, Business, or Athletics.The O-1A visa is for individuals with an extraordinary ability in the sciences, education, business, or athletics and is set aside for people who have risen to the top of their profession. Additionally, these persons must be coming temporarily to the United States to continue work in their area of extraordinary ability.

O-1B: Extraordinary Ability in the Arts or the Motion Picture or Television Industry.The O-1B visa is for foreign nationals who have demonstrated extraordinary ability by sustained national or international acclaim in the arts or in the motion picture or television industry and desire to come temporarily to the United States to continue work in their area of extraordinary ability. For the arts, the individual must show that he/she has acquired “distinction” in his/her artistic field.

O-2 AND O-3: Individuals Accompanying - An O-1 & Spouses or Children of O-1 and O-2 Visa Holders.O-2 visas are offered to support personnel of O-1 Visa holders in the fields of athletics, entertainment, motion picture and television production. This status is not applicable to personnel in the sciences, business or education. Your spouse and unmarried children under the age of 21 years are permitted to accompany you to the United States, under an O-3 status.
